WELCOME TO RIDGEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL LIBRARY

Library News

March was an exciting month for library activities. The Junior and Senior Library Clubs sponsored our first ever Used Book Sale and Coffee Shop in Ridgewood's lunchroom. We served hot chocolate, hot and iced coffee, and our special mixed mocha while parents, students, and teachers browsed our assortment of used books. We ended with a poetry reading. Thanks to all parents and students who donated books to the sale and who supported our café. Parents are welcome to donate used books to the library throughout the year. Hardbound books that are appropriate will become a permanent part of the library collection and paperbacks will be on sale at our used book sale next spring.

Don't forget that you can also support our library (and the environment) by donating used/defunct ink cartridges, toner cartridges, cell phones, iPods, and laptops to the library. We send them out to be recycled and are paid well for these valuable recyclables.

At the end of this month the library announced two on-going activities. One is our reading promotion raffle in celebration of National Library Week, April 14-20. During the next three weeks, every time a student checks out a library book, students can enter a ticket in the raffle to win an iPod (first place) and gift cards to Barnes and Nobles. We will pull the raffle and announce the winners at another coffee café in the lunchroom on April 17. Students must be present to win.

Also in honor of National Library Week and National Poetry Month, the library will be putting a literary edition of our library newsletter, Ad Lib. We are asking for submissions of original poetry, short stories, and personal essays. We will also be publishing the winners of Ridgewood's Annual Poetry Contest. Students should submit their poem to their English teacher for the contest. All other creative writing for publication should be submitted to the library.
