RIDGEWOOD'S ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Ridgewood Preparatory School is organized as a primary school, a middle school, and a high school. For more information on each academic program visit the sites listed below.

STUDENT BODY
Ridgewood's student body is a diverse population. Drawing from six parishes, every race and almost every religion in the world is represented. In addition, ten percent of the student body are of foreign nationalities. The common ingredients among students are their warmth, academic promise, and ambition to succeed.

FACULTY
The faculty members at Ridgewood are well prepared for their professions with a majority having advanced degrees. All faculty members are available for extra help and conferences before and after school. Faculty student ratio is 1:15. The size of the school allows the faculty and administration to know the students well and to create a close student-faculty relationship.

FACILITIES
Ridgewood Preparatory School is located one block off Airline Highway between Cleary Avenue and Clearview Parkway. Four carpeted and air-conditioned classroom buildings, a gymnasium-auditorium, and over an acre of open play area comprise the four-acre campus. The plant includes a fully equipped computer room, science laboratory, art studio, library, and band room, as well as a seminar room, a lunch room and tennis facility.

TECHNOLOGY
Technology at Ridgewood is constantly being upgraded. The school's computer lab consists of a 25-station IBM compatible Pentium IV systems, running Windows XP Professional Edition. All stations are linked by Windows Server 2003 network. Each station has access to a wider variety of software, enhancing a wide range of educational opportunities.

State-of-the-art technology extends into the school library. Nine research computers provide students and faculty entry into the electronic card catalogue, magazine index with full text articles, encyclopedias, literary criticisms, diverse multicultural CD programs, and access to the information highway.

LIBRARY
Ridgewood's library is an exciting, vibrant place...a center of activity. All grades participate in library instruction and enjoy the stimulating atmosphere. The library holds 12,000 volumes, all computerized. Through utilizing the library facilities and library skills, students learn techniques and tools for research and gain an appreciation of the written word.

FINE ART
Ridgewood believes in fostering the individual talents and cultural awareness of its students and does so through a diverse fine arts program which exists on the primary, middle, and high school level. Students have the opportunity to take studio art, art history, band, speech, debate, and dramatic study. Individual instruction in piano and string instruments is also offered during school hours for interested students in grades one through twelve.

TESTING
Appropriate testing is conducted at all grade levels. Achievement tests and aptitude tests are administered in primary school and middle school. Interest inventories and college admissions testing are required on the high school level.

TUITION
Ridgewood's tuition and general fee include a textbook rental fee, all lab fees, activity fees, school newspaper subscription, admission to all regular home games, and parents' membership in the Golden Eagle Parent Association.
